Life On Hold

SINGAPORE WHIRLWIND

The year was 2019 when I went on my last big holiday. It was to Alaska to celebrate 20 years of marriage. I was lucky not to have married later or COVID would’ve wiped those plans!

I didn’t plan another holiday for years because of a diagnosis I received, so I put my life on hold and focussed on staying at home or going on tiny (sometimes overnight) trips up the coast. After a few years of that, I thought ‘why did I stop?’. No reason is good enough to put your life on hold.

So December 2025 became my Singaporean destination. A few days in the city, a couple of weeks on a cruise, and a huge hole in my bank account later, I finally went on a holiday with the family!

Singapore Botanical Gardens (Bulding 1 of 2)

Singapore Flyer at Night (30m taller than the London Eye), Singapore Museum of Art and Science, and a view of Singapore across the bay.

Haunted Hearts Book Launch

After ten years and thinking about the genre for the fourth edition for the Australian Pen that I’ve always wanted to do (i.e., paranormal romance), I finally went back to it and opened submissions in 2025. I got a great response from a lot of local writers and selected the stories that were the cream of the crop.

The book will be launched at North Lakes Library this year on Valentine’s Day, (14 February) at 10am. If you’re in the country/city, please come along! Almost all the authors will be there to celebrate and sign books! The link to reserve your seat is: Book launch | Haunted Hearts - North Lakes - Moreton Bay Libraries

Wanderer of Worlds Update

If you’ve been reading the Wanderer of Worlds books, you’ll know that Linda and I writing the final book! We’ve been a little delayed with life, but I’m determined to get Backlash out this year! I promised its release last year because it was the 10 year anniversary of the first book, Axiom. Unfortunately that didn’t work out.

Linda and I are discussing the release of the next edition. We will edit all the books to improve pacing, so there will be cuts, and also new covers! If you want the original work and covers, you’ll have to pick them up before the new editions come out. You can get them directly from Linda (if you know her) or myself (using my website shop), or via bookshops or Amazon. You can ask for them at your library, too, and if they don’t have it, they can order them in!

Goodbye 2025, Hello Blog!

Today I stumbled across a very old blog of mine on Wordpress. I used it to journal my first publishing foray, Femme (which you can’t buy now because of its setting disagreement with the Wanderer series).

I’m going to do that again, I’ll journal about one or some of my upcoming projects (and I have a few of them on the backburner) and I’ll share here about publishing and printing decisions that I make. After 12 years of independent publishing, (I started in 2013) it’s a smoother process for me now, but my tiny budget remains the same!

I’ll also share marketing experiences that I’ve had, because marketing using the internet feels like throwing money into a very deep pit. It’s easy for established authors to say “Find your readers” or “you only need 1000 true fans to support your work” but it’s not actually easy to find your readers, and within those, to get 1000 True Fans! I’m still looking, so I’ll share that process.

So subscribe to my newsletter which I’ll send on a monthly basis. There’s even a free eBook in it for you! I won’t ever sell your details or use them unethically, because I hate that shit.

My next post will be in January 2026 because I want a fresh year for a fresh start!
